Deadline Approaches to File for Local Office in Ozaukee County

Residents of Ozaukee County interested in running for local elected office have an important deadline approaching. To appear on the ballot for the 2026 Spring Election on April 7, 2026, candidates must file all required paperwork with the appropriate clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The filing period opened on December 1, 2025, allowing potential candidates to begin circulating nomination papers and file their Campaign Registration Statement (CF-1), Declaration of Candidacy (EL-162), and Nomination Papers (EL-169) with the county or municipal clerk.

Local offices on the ballot in the spring election include County Board Supervisor seats, municipal offices, and various school board positions throughout Ozaukee County. Reports are emerging that conservative groups have recruited candidates for nearly every single office, even for seats held by known far left liberals, Dan Vogel and Connie Kincaid.

Prospective candidates should confirm all filing requirements — including valid signatures and any additional forms — with the Ozaukee County Clerk’s Office or their local municipal clerk well before the deadline. Failure to meet the January 6 deadline means a candidate’s name will not appear on the spring election ballot.
